We drove to practically the Eastern coast of Iceland for the purpose of seeing the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. That night, we stayed on another farm whose website swooned me into booking there. I could hardly believe it when a car full of girls pulled up into the farm while I was unloading my stuff. It turned out to be a girl who is on exchange with me in Copenhagen, and we ended up running into her three times in total! In some way, travelling always manages to remind me of how small the world is.

We really enjoyed this ride, although we felt a little isolated and terrified at some points after the gas tank hit 1/2. We drove by numerous farms and kept saying "is this one ours?!"

We initially drove right by the lagoon, meaning to stop by it on our way back the next day. It was late in the day, and we wanted to feel fresh for the experience. I didn't expect it to be just there. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and I kept my head turned in the car until it was completely out of sight. I can't really explain it, but it feels so far away even though it is just off the highway. I could stay there and look at the aqua ice float around for hours trying to imagine what is behind that mountain range in the highlands.
